Hans Andrea
(1944 - )
Hans Andréa (1944 -) fell in love with Harry Potter on page two of the first book, and by the end of the book he was struck by the powerful Rosicrucian and alchemical symbolism in it. Hans particularly recognizes many similarities between Harry Potter and The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosycross, which he regards as one of the most profound spiritual works to have been written, next to the Bible.
His ideas on the alchemy in Harry Potter can be summed up in his statement “Alchemy is a spiritual process converting the lead of the ordinary biological mortal human being into the gold of the divine, immortal and eternal human being who has overcome the limitations of death, evil and suffering.” Hans spent 24 years as a primary school teacher in Australia and New Zealand and now lives in the Netherlands.
He is a Rosicrucian and has studied the writings of Jan van Rijckenborgh intensively. Hans has spoken at several international conferences for students of the deeper meaning in Harry Potter. His last presentation (at the Accio Conference in 2008) can be found here. He is currently working on a book The Gnosis in Harry Potter.
